We strongly believe, the biggest solo reason of success for any school is its curriculum and academic delivery. Our curriculum simply emphasizes hands on learning experiences. This entails the creation and selection of educational material that children can interact with. The curriculum conveys the subject knowledge through 'processes' that create stimulating learning experiences for children and encourage analytical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving and learning. Our philosophy of curriculum therefore, dwells on providing each student with an opportunity for exploring the frontiers of knowledge.

While the Preschool and Primary school curriculum integrate all subjects and make learning fun, the Secondary arrives on specifications of serious learning of subjects with exposure through hands on experiences.

BHIS Thane has two segments under High School - National and International. The National segment is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and operates at two levels - ICSE - Grade X Examination and ISC-Grade XII Examination for Science and Commerce streams. Our International segment is affiliated to the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)

IGCSE Board Cambridge (Primary Grade I-V)

Cambridge primary is an education programme for young learners that combine a world-class curriculum, high-quality support for teachers and integrated assessment.

IGCSE Board Cambridge (Secondary Grade VI-X)

Cambridge secondary curriculum develops skills and understanding in English, Mathematics and Science for the first three years of secondary education.

IGCSE Board Cambridge (AS/A Level)

The school is also affiliated to the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and prepares students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and AS / A Level Examinations at the end of Grade X, XI & XII respectively.

With the advent of many different boards and streams, IGCSE has found its way into the most sought after boards in recent times. It stands for International General Certificate of Secondary Education. It is a globally recognized qualification, equivalent to other streams. However, this curriculum is tailored for a multi-lingual, multi-cultured audience. This makes IGCSE more acceptable and sought after, globally.

Despite having a plethora of choices, we often wonder what makes IGCSE stand out. The reason is simple. It gives an ample range of subjects to choose from, and also offers a practical learning rather than theoretical approach academically. The syllabus is more balanced and rather flexible. The curriculum has an international outlook.

Apart from the regular academics, the groups of subjects on offer are meticulously designed so as to bring an overall learning from not just pre-set lessons but also by including topics that facilitate oral skills, investigative skills, problem solving skills, team work, etc. That apart the wide spectrum of subjects too range from the usual group of Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences, and extend to the more creative Music, Accountancy, Business Studies, Computer Studies and so on.

At Billabong High International School (BHIS), the focus is to prepare children for IGCSE at class X Level, and AS/ A Level examination at class XII level. Though the course structure is rigorous, the end result facilitates honed skills and polishing various abilities.

Billabong High International School, is a strong believer of constant learning and continuous development of not just students but also the teachers. There are very few IGCSE schools in Mumbai. And even lesser IGCSE schools in Thane. Therefore, BHIS is the ideal roof under which one can be rest assured that their ward is given the best of exposure. We also strongly acknowledge the fact that students and youngsters today need positive motivation and reinforcement. Therefore, it has been made mandatory for every student to take up SUPW – Socially Useful Productive Work, wherein a minimum number of hours of social service are compulsory for every student. A continual learning approach is also ongoing in respect of any creative crafts.

In order to assess the students, each of them go through a pre-designed set of assessment tests and evaluation. These assessments can range from poetry to comprehension writing, recitals, painting, map work, practicals, quizzes, crosswords to even mental ability tests. The main purpose of having these assessments is to analyze and interpret the individual growth of every student.

The best part about IGCSE is that it allows a certain degree of customization wherein teaching can be designed to match localized content. This makes the students well versed with not just worldwide knowledge but also ensures overall upliftment because they get to learn of things around them without affecting their curricular activities.
